I hear people on TV talking about flat pack cabinets that they saved 30% or more this way but I am not finding any. Do you know of any manufactures that ship cabinets for less.Kitchen and Bath cabinets?
Flat pack or Ready-to-Assemble cabinets are available at any big box home improvement store. Yes, they can save you money, but they are what they are.
We use them in apartment remodels and thats about it. They are typically not the quality of even the cheapest cabinets on the shelf at the store.
A good set of cabinets should give you twenty years of life. Many of the brands I've installed won't make it five years. Thats fine for college apartments (where they'll be wrecked no matter how expensive they are), but not good for a house.
The 30% savings are probably not worth it.Kitchen and Bath cabinets?
I purchased my kitchen cabinets through Home Depot, also. All the 'fronts' had to be ordered but most of the basic cabinets were in stock and can be installed without the fronts.
They will also help you with layout and measurements. Anything else you need will be ordered and the wait wasn't that bad. Not too many problems dealing with them. I was missing a toe kick and found that it was put in the stock bin.
Home depot here in my town always has them in stock........that doesn't mean they will have them where you are at, but they may be able to order. A friend of mine uses them all the time. Good luck.

What is the average time warranty on Kitchen & Bath Cabinets?
Usually one year, for parts and labor. Really, the better quality cabinets can be determined by feel, not by paperwork. What is the average time warranty on Kitchen %26amp; Bath Cabinets?
probably 1 year. What is the average time warranty on Kitchen %26amp; Bath Cabinets?
Depends on the cabinet quality. Most value priced cabinets are 5 years. All others could carry anywhere from 10 to life warrenties.
Check with the retailer.
I would check with the store that they were purchased at to see what type of warranty and how long it is for. Because warranties differ so much, because of the quality, and things of that nature, and some things don't have a warranty unless you purchase the warranty.

Cabinet door hinges in my bath are an antique brass finish. Want to change into shiny brass? Tips anyone??
Go to Home Depot.
They have a very large selection of nice door fixtures and hinges.Cabinet door hinges in my bath are an antique brass finish. Want to change into shiny brass? Tips anyone??
Two ways to do this:
First, get some 0000 steel wool and get to work. You'll need to hit them with some spray lacquer when you're done to keep them from tarnishing. You may not be happy with your results (especially) the resulting color, but this is probably the cheaper solution if you don't mind many hours of mind-numbing rubbing.
Second, head down to Home Depot or Lowe's and find some bright brass hardware that makes you smile. Buy it and replace the old stuff. More expensive, but perhaps more satisfactory in the long run.
Best of luck to you!Cabinet door hinges in my bath are an antique brass finish. Want to change into shiny brass? Tips anyone??
Take off one of the hinges. Look for a brand mark. For example, a capital ';A';, inside a circle is the mark for Amerock. Other common brands are ';Belwith'; and ';Stanley.'; There are quite a few others. Go to a good hardware store and see if they can figure out what you've got. Then you can order the same model hinge, in the finish you want. Change out should be a snap.
personally I wouldn't waste my time try to sand them. drop them in a bowl of Krud Kutter (brand name) over night rinse with water, let them dry in the sun and spray the color you want while they are hot. You don't have to try to get them back on the same doors, they are adjustable.
cheaper and easier to just get new ones.
tooth paste then spray clear paint over them good to go.
They will discolour to an antique brass finish.
I have never done this but I am a home makeover tv junkie. According to HGTV all you have to do is go to any home improvement store and get sandpaper and metal finish spray. Lowes or somewhere like that whll have people trained to tell you what grit sandpaper and what spray you can and should use. Then you just unscrew the hinges and take them outside, sand them down, wipe with soft clean cloth to get rid of any excess sand and finishing, and while the hinges sit on newspaper you spray on the new finish and let it dry. Some finishes require extra steps like crackle so makes sure before you start you have everything you need together and the time to finish every step the way it is suppose to be done. Hope this helps.

Bath Vanity Cabinet ??
Whare can I find a bath vanity cabinet that looks like a piece of furniture (antique look) with a grantie or marble top for a reasonable price?Bath Vanity Cabinet ??
Check the home improvement stores in your area. They may stock them.
Another option is to find a cabinet you like in an antique store or used furniture store, remove the top, and custom order a top for it. You can get a faux marble top custom made for only a little more than a standard one. If you go this route, make sure that the cabinet is the right height that you want for the bathroom, and that there is room inside for the plumbing. Find out first where the plumbing is located in the room - does it come out of the wall or the floor? Are there any electrical outlets near the plumbing that would be blocked by the cabinet? Is there any internal structure in the cabinet that would interfere with the plumbing? If in doubt, measure everything, take pictures, and take it all with you when you go shopping for cabinets.Bath Vanity Cabinet ??

So i have this battery operated razor that is in my bath room cabinet?
and it keeps turning on, and the only way to turn it on is to push the button. Just a few min. ago i was in the bath room having a cigg. when i heard it going off, i went to open the cabinet and it stopped. This only started a few hours ago after i told a friend i stopped using my ouija board sometime ago. What do you think am i going crazy? So i have this battery operated razor that is in my bath room cabinet?
Yes, a ghost has a five o'clock shadow. So i have this battery operated razor that is in my bath room cabinet?
Yikes- you shouldn't have been messing with the ouija board- lol- seriously- that's inviting demonic activity. Well, you'll see.
If only there were some body of knowledge relevant to this topic, perhaps some sort of basic engineering dealing with electrical objects. Oh, but that's just impossible. The Bible doesn't mention anything like that, so it must be demons!
Take out the battery, at least it will stop it from going off.
Gremlins runnnn! lol
--No, obviously your shaver has got a loose wire or something.
Yes. Ghosts need a good shave from time to time.
Either that or it has a short in it.
It is obviously a demon who is self conscious about his body hair. Don't hurt his feelings!
It's telling you to take the job in Des Moines.
Oh, and your dead kitty is fine.
No you aren't going crazy. I was just trying to mess with you! Gotcha!
Don't tell me you bought one of those Clapper Razors?
weird....pray for relief
More than likely you are experiencing a demon attack. Don't freak out. It has been reported that demons have bothered people who use Ouija boards. One example is from Germany. A class was temporarily left without supervision. They decided to experiment with an Ouija board. While using it, some students felt the presence of demons and fled in panic.
God’s Word shows that those who are suffering from demon attacks can get free from such harassment. Prayer plays a vital role in such liberation. (Mark 9:25-29) But someone troubled by demons may need to take additional steps. Events involving first-century Christians illustrate what else may be required.
Before they became followers of Christ, some individuals in ancient Ephesus were involved with demonism. However, after they made up their mind to serve God, “those who practiced magical arts brought their books together and burned them up before everybody.” (Acts 19:19) By destroying their books on divination, those new believers in Ephesus set an example for any who wish to free themselves from demon attacks today. It is imperative for such ones to get rid of all objects related to spiritism. This includes books, magazines, movies, material from electronic sources, music recordings that have spiritistic overtones, as well as amulets or other items worn for “protection” or linked to spiritistic practices.—Deuteronomy 7:25, 26; 1 Corinthians 10:21.
Some years after those Christians in Ephesus had destroyed their books on magic, the apostle Paul wrote: “We have a wrestling . . . against the wicked spirit forces.” (Ephesians 6:12) Paul urged Christians: “Put on the complete suit of armor from God that you may be able to stand firm against the machinations [crafty acts] of the Devil.” (Ephesians 6:11) That advice is still valid. Christians must fortify their spiritual defenses in order to stay out of the reach of wicked spirits. “Above all things,” stressed Paul, “take up the large shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the wicked one’s burning missiles.” (Ephesians 6:16) A person strengthens his faith through Bible study. (Romans 10:17; Colossians 2:6, 7) Hence, regular Bible study helps us to develop faith that serves as a bulwark against the influence of wicked spirits.—Psalm 91:4; 1 John 5:5.
Those Christians in Ephesus needed to take yet another important step. Paul told them: “With every form of prayer and supplication . . . carry on prayer on every occasion in spirit.” (Ephesians 6:18)lipstick shades

Im not sure where the plumbing is exactlyHow do i install a medicine cabinet on a common wall for a comdo bath?
There are several ways but since a medicine cabinet tends to be somewhat heavy I would reccomend Toggle bolts...some times referred to as butterfly nuts...they require drilling a larger hole in the wall but are very strongHow do i install a medicine cabinet on a common wall for a comdo bath?
You can get a Gadget that you press against theWall and gives off a Signal, a loud alarm noise when ever there is a Metal Pipe Behind it.There is another one that signals when there is Electric Cabling Behind it I have both of these and you put a couple of Batteries in them to make them work. They are not very Dear cheap in Hardware Stores or Electrical Outlets.

Should the cabinet in the water closet match the bath vanity?
The WC has the toilet and a shower. I would like to add a cabinet over the toilet to store extra bathroom items. Not sure if I should buy the same brand and style as the bath vanity. The other room has the garden tub and the bath vanity with sink. The tile work is the same in both rooms.Should the cabinet in the water closet match the bath vanity?
I would, since they are adjacent to each other. I matched ALL of the cabinets in my house. I have hickory cabinets in the kitchen, matching hickory vanities in the bathrooms. The only one that's different is the powder room, which has a pedestal sink. Hope this helps.Should the cabinet in the water closet match the bath vanity?
It's part of the same space. So I would go with matching. In different rooms it really doesn't matter because it's a separate space but in the same space I would go matching.
I would match it, but if you do not want to, I would try to use the same colour.

Was this dangerous? They redid my kitchen & bath..ripping out old cabinets, floor, counter tops, tub,& painted
then replaced all with new. when I came back after 4 days, everything in my small apartment no matter how far away was covered with a thick coating of dust. I feather dusted it and then started couching hard and couldn't stop..coughed on and off for hours till I feel asleep..in morning seemed allright but now it feels like my breathing is labored and hard to breathe..feels like airway is clogged; however, I was in a minor traffic accident tonight and apparently hit chest on steering wheel and had difficulty breathing and getting a deep breath (couldn't go to hospital as no way home as car undriveable) so tonights breathing problems may or may not be due to residual and recirculated dust or missed spots.
My question..what could be in that dust and was it dangerous to breath it? any solutions? Was this dangerous? They redid my kitchen %26amp; bath..ripping out old cabinets, floor, counter tops, tub,%26amp; painted

Has anyone out there done a kitchen/bath cabinet refacing project? Pros cons?
By refacing, I am guessing you are talking about just replacing the doors, drawer-fronts and hardware for your kitchen/bath... for sure, you will be happy with it and it is less costly than a re-do of everything... having said that; it depends on whether your cabinets are the ';standard sizes'; available at Home Depot, Lowes, RONA, whatever. If your cabinetry is older and more along the ';custom'; line; you may not be able to find what you need on the shelf. These folks and any other cabinet company, can make custom sizes for what you need but it will cost more. Check out as many suppliers as you can handle and be informed. Not all faces are created equal. Good luck!!!

Yeah you really can't prove it. That's why, like the previous poster said you MUST do a walk through or take pictures. At this point you might as well pay the 230 unless your more concerned about the principal, then you could pay 1,000's in court costs and hope the judge believes your story instead of the landlord's.I personally cleaned my 2bdr 2 bath apt including the oven, cabinets sink, tubs axcept for the windows and?
without photos, it is your word against theirs. That is why you do a walk through so things not done properly can be pointed out and taken care of right then, or you can dispute the allegation right then.

The cabinets in my guest bath are old (the original 30 yo). They are dark, dark wood and I can't replace them.
The bathroom is very small. I'm going to paint the walls this week and I'm thinking about painting the cabinets the same color to help make the room look bigger and more cohesive, since the toilet is white and the shower tile and sink are a taupe/pink color. I'll probably paint the walls a warm off-white/beige. I'm going to use maroon towels (from my old master bath) in there. Will that look good? The cabinets in my guest bath are old (the original 30 yo). They are dark, dark wood and I can't replace them.
Yes! Just check to see if you need to sand then down first [ depends on what the finish is ] - the paint store people should know.
Do you already have a shower curtain, rug etc.? Use the curtain colors for towels, accessories, art.
Be sure lighting and mirror are adequate, so it isn't too dark.
I think pink, rose, burgundy would all look well in this bath. The cabinets in my guest bath are old (the original 30 yo). They are dark, dark wood and I can't replace them.
Old cabinets %26amp; colors...yukyukyuky..UNLESS you look at it as brighting up an old life, then it's fun! Ignore the ';white'; factor and go for a depth and richness like a mocha coffee or extra cream in coffee....a rich color with a semi gloss will add depth where your tile will just be a glance compared to an eye sore. Keep in mind that a rich color on any old surface will expand the look in the small room and add knobs with a muted bronze that will blend with faucets where your eye will not go right to the old but to the depth of a warm new look. taupe, mocha, sand all look great with maroon and adding a few hand towels of the new color on wood and walls will be very soothing and warm so experiment with some wash cloths in the room...save your receipt to take back after deceiding, i always lay cloths of my ';guess which on looks best'; aroud for a few days, glancing to see the effect it produces...try it..hope you like!
If budget allows, id cover the doors with mirrors.. mirrors make rooms appear larger and more open. Whites also are a good choice in paint because it is clean and makes a room look fresh. Light colours will make a room look bigger
there are ways to dull the finish on your old cabinets one is called liquid sand. use this and then paint with a good primer such as kiltz. i would use two coats then let your inner self take over eather make it blend in or make it pop it is only paint and you can change it if you do not like. take a ride on the wild side and kick it.
One thing I have noticed when painting walls or cabinets white or off-white...you notice EVERY gap there is. The smallest gap looks giant after you have painted it. Best to use a little caulk ahead of painting to seal any gap or crack you see...because they look bigger after you have painted.

I want to remodel my home. What order do these go in? Cabinets, painting, flooring, appliances, bath fixture
What order do you install or do the following? Cabinets, painting, flooring, appliances, bath fixtures. Can any of these items be done simultaneously? How long should each take to install assuming all is in stock for a 1,277 sq. ft. house with 8' ceilings?I want to remodel my home. What order do these go in? Cabinets, painting, flooring, appliances, bath fixture
Depending on what is in which room, the general procedure of events is....
Fixtures... as bath..plumbing etc..
Flooring next unless you wish to at least prepare and undercoat the paintwork so as to save drop sheeting the areas...
If the '; cabinets '; cupboards are fixtures as built ins, kitchen cupboards, vanity etc. then these should all be done as fixtures ie. : first....
Measurements and planning must be made for appliances, before the fixtures are installed....but these are installed after the flooring...so that the flooring is under same, as fridge, stove, etc.
Painting can now be done, assuming all prep work was carried out before, ..... make sure drop sheets are covering everything....
happy renovating.
later, Jim (Contract Builder 34 years )I want to remodel my home. What order do these go in? Cabinets, painting, flooring, appliances, bath fixture
appliances,flooring,bath features,cabinets then paint!
It mainly doends on which part of your home you are upgrading to, I would say fixtures such as sinks, baths, tubs should be done first, Than I would move on to flooring, these items include tiel, vinyl, or hardwood. Afterwards, move to painting walls, ceilings and molding, this will be a very wise decision to go ahead and paint before anything is put up. Next would be cabinets, I would have a professional install these because they are a big chunk of your expenses. Finally install all appliances such as oven, dishwasher, microwave and others. Fixtures usually take up a fair amount of time dpending on how much instalation or problems that may occur. Flooring such as tile will have to settle for up to a day to insure settlement. They they apply the grout afterwards, if you choose vinyl or hardwood it would be a short amount of time such a few hours. Painting is a simple thing to do, it should fast and easy. Cabinet installers take half a day to be in and out, depennding on how much. Last but not least, appliances don't usually take up a long time unless you run in to plumbing problems or a gas leak. Overall, these improvements don't take to much time if you have the proper crew and materials needed to get the job done efficiently.
Depending on what is in which room, the general procedure of events is....
Fixtures... as bath..plumbing etc..
Flooring next unless you wish to at least prepare and undercoat the paintwork so as to save drop sheeting the areas...

I have dark Cherry cabinets in my master bath with white marble counters. what color tile do I use?
I am tearing out shower etc and updating all of the tile.I have dark Cherry cabinets in my master bath with white marble counters. what color tile do I use?
I would try to pick up a tone from the countertop. I am assuming it isn't all white, there should be veins through it.I have dark Cherry cabinets in my master bath with white marble counters. what color tile do I use?
Do you have bathroom colors picked out? Like shower curtain, ceramic soap dispenser, rugs, etc? I would find that first, some I really really liked, and then I would find the tile to match it. I operate weird I know, most people would find the tile first lol.
Cherry and white marble would really go with anything. Burgandy, warm cream colors, subtle golds would go really good.
I would say to try out something with a rustic amber color. Go to Lowes with a picture of your home and look for the best match.
you can try a mellow more not really white but like a cream or light color...
that would look really cool
Wine colored
i suggest you go with a creamish color
white marble tile would be quite nice.

What is in a thick coating of dust on everything after ripping out old cabinets in kitchen & bath, floors,.?
counters, etc and repainting. I feather dusted it and started coughing and couldn't stop for hours and next day still bothering me some..what is the dust that was everwhere no matter how far away and is in it and is it dangerous to breath? What is in a thick coating of dust on everything after ripping out old cabinets in kitchen %26amp; bath, floors,.?
I am an Interior Painter in Massachusetts. The thick coating of dust you are most likely inhaling is made of joint compound and wall board particles (usually has some Crystalline Silica) and these particles are very small, can cause coughing and do travel far.
I have also noticed that an excess of mildew can create a shortness of breath and even a closing of the throat.
The best solution I know of during demolition and installation is to have a pro come and do the job. If you are Do-It-Yourself-er, wear a mask at least or get a respirator. Further, both a pro and DIY'er need to ';work clean.'; That means clean and vacuum after each cycle as well as put plastic on the archways to the rest of the house.
Now if your house is an older one there may even be asbestos. I understand that asbestos is a cancer causing agent and should be removed by a pro in that field.
Now the fact that you are coughing means that this dust is dangerous to your health. Coughing a way the body tries to clean itself at times.
If you are feeling better now, get a mask and clean your house well with a dusting cloth and vacuum. Shake out the cloth and empty the vacuum outdoors frequently as you clean. In this way you are removing the dust from your home and getting it outside.
If you are not feeling well yet, talk with you doctor about your health and hire a cleaner for cleaning your house until you are feeling better.
Thank you for your time,

will be missed. I also have allergic rhinitis and allergy to mold..the sink was leaking for some time so mold may have been released..the tightening of chest and constriction and difficulty taking a deep breathe scared me..
unsure if from this or wreck but probably both. This is a subsidized apartment where everything is done as cheaply as possible and often repairs jury rigged..I imagine they may have gotten a careless crew.
They lied and said stuff would be covered but I saw open door when I got mail and no tarps except over a foot by edge..(we had to leave 4 days and then return--
locked were changed while we were gone). Thank you for all your details and cleaning suggestions. If you have any further info or feel this silica is dangerous to my health, please email me..thanks to all SO MUCH!!!
The dust was probably from what had settled over the years and partly from decomposing glues ect. Your best bet is to dust and vacume your house very well. DO NOT use a feather duster as it only spreads the dust. Damp dust only...meaning use a damp rag to collect the dust and rinse it out often. You will most likely have to do this several times a week to get results as dust is everywhere. Who knows what the dust is composed of since glues are commonly used to in flooring.
Because behind and under cupboards and baths the dust keeps building up. it was the same when i put my shower in
%26lt;%26gt;Dust raised by demolition is never good to breath. Besides the risk of asbestos, there are dozens of possible dangers lurking: molds, hantaviruses (from mouse and rat droppings), and various insect-borne diseases, just to name a few. It is strongly recommended that anyone working in such an environment wear a respirator mask at all times.lipstick shades

Hi , I'm in CT, so I'm not familiar with anything in your area, but Sears does refacing, and that might be a place to start.....they use subcontractors, and typically they do a nice job. Then through the magic of the internet, you should be able to search for contractors in your area that specialize in this...like here:

I have sanded and primed my bath cabinets, what kind of paint will i need?
I remodeling my bathroom cabinets and they are ready for the paint, what kind should I use,I mean, high gloss, egg shell,I want to add color so no staining.Every store I go to tells me something different. Thanks in advance for the help!I have sanded and primed my bath cabinets, what kind of paint will i need?
hello, first question, what kind of paint is on the cabs?you absoluty can use water-base primer on a oil base paint.thats how you seal it. i recomend krylon,it gives good coverage and isnt too runny.i know theres a lot more to it than that but if you want great results then this is what you need to do...I have sanded and primed my bath cabinets, what kind of paint will i need?
I use mud
go to home depot they will tell you
Well you can really use any type of finish you like, as long as you follow really the basic 2 rules for an area thats going to have an exposure to a lot of moisture.
1. Use an oil based primer, it will hold paint better and greatly reduce the chances of bleeding
2. Use a latex based paint, something with a much glossier finish such as Semi-gloss or high-gloss will most definately hold your paint to the wood and keep it looking great.
Go To Home Depot and go with Behr, it really is great paint
